Women's Health Conditions
COMMON CONDITIONS AND CONCERNS
Because of anatomical differences, there are health complications that impact a woman that may never affect a male, but there is much more to women's health than that. Some health issues in both sexes can still affect women differently than men.
Why Routine Checkups Matter
Regular checkups allow providers to monitor for a wide range of women's health concerns — from reproductive and hormonal issues to urinary and pelvic complications. Early detection leads to better outcomes, and a variety of treatment options are available based on your specific needs.
Common Conditions We Treat
Incontinence
Often experienced during or after pregnancy, urinary incontinence involves involuntary leaks due to bladder pressure — such as when laughing, coughing, or sneezing. Treatments may include lifestyle changes, pelvic floor therapy, or antidiuretic medications.
Pelvic Pain
Pain in the lower abdomen can range from mild to severe and may not always signal a disease. A pelvic exam can help determine the cause and appropriate course of action.
Ovarian Cysts
These fluid-filled sacs on the ovary may cause discomfort during your cycle, sex, or bowel movements. While many resolve on their own, treatment may include hormonal birth control or surgical removal.
Fibroids
Noncancerous tumors that often cause pelvic pain and heavy, prolonged periods. Treatments range from medication to surgical removal depending on severity and symptoms.
Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
This includes unusually long, heavy, or irregular menstrual bleeding. Causes vary and may be addressed through hormone therapy, birth control, or surgery.
Reproductive and Hormonal Health
Endometriosis
Occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain and irregular periods. Hormonal treatments or surgery may relieve symptoms.
Amenorrhea
The absence of menstruation outside of normal life stages (puberty, pregnancy, menopause). Hormone therapy or birth control can help regulate cycles.
Menstrual Disorders
Issues like painful cramps or excessively heavy flow can disrupt daily life. Treatments often include NSAIDs, hormonal therapy, or birth control.
Other Gynecologic Concerns
Vaginal Irritation
Itching, burning, or discomfort often stems from bacterial or fungal imbalances. Treatment typically involves antifungal medication or prescribed creams.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
Bladder and urethra infections that cause pelvic pain, urgency, and blood in urine. These are treated effectively with antibiotics.
Cervical Dysplasia
Abnormal cells in the cervix found through Pap testing. While mild cases may resolve on their own, more advanced cases may require surgical treatment.
