About Salvatore Lombardi, MD
Dr. Lombardi is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. He is nationally recognized in the field of Perinatology, having published or presented over 150 scientific papers. He received his fellowship training in Maternal–Fetal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was co-founder of the CVS program and the first physician to perform chorionic villus sampling, both transcervical and transabdominal. He remained on the full-time academic faculty until 1992, receiving numerous awards, including the prestigious American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Purdue Fredrick award for Excellence in Medical Research. Dr. Lombardi was one of the innovators in the field of Doppler ultrasound, presenting his work both nationally and internationally. He is published in the field of ultrasound and genetics and received the Outstanding Community Hospital Research Award for his work in the area of genetics at the 1994 meeting of the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians.
